The Ghost Sonata
A site sympathetic retelling of The Ghost Sonata in a subterranean electrician’s warehouse by the banks of the river Thames. The warehouse was originally used to test the strength of chains on boats on the rivers boats. Chain was passed through a two metre wide letter box in the wall, run the length of the room and then wound around a huge winch. The room was then flooded and tension put on the chain. The flooding of the room and its murky watery past became central to both choice of story and the telling of it. The audience were given the role of labourers looking for work in the docks, and after pushing aside a portrait found an entrance to the world of The Ghost Sonata and its grotesque inhabitants.
