The Seed

Lost for a hundred years
a precious seed lies undiscovered...

Part immersive theatre and part online mystery, The Seed was a real-world treasure hunt of the grandest proportions.
Inspired by true stories of the intrepid Victorian plant hunters, The Seed asked a new breed of hunter to follow clues and claim the lost treasure. Players and audience members helped our heroine in her quest online as she struggled to find the seed and prevent her world from falling apart.
The Seed was a series of immersive performances in the Great Gardens of Sussex. Each one contained different clues, characters and encounters and took a different form. The fourth and final play was a pageant steeped in folklore - a night time adventure in spectacular surroundings. This event cut to the heart of the mystery and was only for the bravest and most spirited of explorers.
The Seed was created by Goat and Monkey and David Varela and was commissioned by West Sussex County Council and the Great Gardens of Sussex.
The Seed received an Inspire Mark logo as part of the Cultural Olympiad for its  integrated outreach work with young people.
